Stephen Hopkins 
was born in 1958, and is a Jamaican-born film and television director, and producer. He directed cult films like Predator 2, Blown Away, and the critically acclaimed The Life and Death of Peter Sellers. He also produced and directed several episodes of the critically acclaimed first season of 24.

Life and Career

Stephen was born in Jamaica and raised in Australia and England. He was educated at Sutton Valence School.

He is best known for his continuation of the Nightmare on Elms Street franchise with A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child, and the Predator franchise with Predator 2. His highest grossing film was the 1998 film adaption of the TV series Lost in Space.

In 2004, Stephen directed the controversial biographical film The Life and Death of Peter Sellers which provoked the ire of the actor's son Michael Sellers and won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or Dramatic Special.

Stephen was a co-executive producer for the first season of the Fox action drama 24, and also directed half of the season's episodes, including the first and last episode.

Stephen has directed a number of episodes of Showtime's series House of Lies and Shameless.
