Christopher Paul Bisson
was born on July 21, 1975, in Wythenshawe, Manchester. He is an actor, best known for playing Jai Sharma in the ITV soap-opera Emmerdale since 2009. He previously played Vikram Desai in Coronation StreetKash Karib in Shameless and JJ in Children's Ward.


Chris went on to appear in Prime Suspect and Holby City and played Vikram Desai in Coronation Street, Kash Karib in Shameless and currently portrays businessman Jai Sharma in Emmerdale.

Chris appeared in Perfect Day: The Wedding, Perfect Day: The Funeral and the feature film Stepdad. He participated in the Channel 4 documentary Empire's Children.

He has appeared on the Valentine's Day 2009 episode of Casualty, and on the latest season of Hotel Babylon. He returned to make a one-off appearance in Shameless in April 2009.

In September 2009, Chris joined the cast of Emmerdale as part of the newly cast Sharma family, playing Jai Sharma. Chris temporarily departed Emmerdale on January 24, 2013, due to the birth of his child. He later returned at the end of March 2013.


Chris played Saleem Khan in the film East Is East.

He also appeared in the second season of the ITV reality show I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!

He and his family appeared on All Star Family Fortunes in October 2011, winning 10,000 pounds for charity.

In 2012, he appeared in the CCBC series 12 Again where he revealed he once failed to attend a date at the movie theater with Anna Friel at the time.

On December 15, 2013, Chris took part in The Chase: Celebrity Special to win money for charity.

Personal Life

Chris is Catholic. Chris' partner Rowena Finn gave birth to a baby boy named Harry in 2013.
