Carmel Morgan is a writer born in 1965 in Oxfordshire.

She is currently developing DNR, a comedy drama project with Tiger Aspect and Sky.

Leaving behind her previous incarnation as a Granada TV press officer, Carmel served a brief but invaluable apprenticeship on season two of The Royle Family. Following which she cut her writing teeth on Channel 4's groundbreaking soap, Brookside, for which she wrote over thirty episodes.

In 2006 she was commissioned by Dawn French to write a stage play. Starring Dawn French, Alison Moyet and June Watson, Smaller toured for six weeks before an extended run in the West End.

Along with Cheryl Taylor, Carmel co-created the comedy drama Drop Dead Gorgeous in BBC Three.

Her writing credits include Shameless and Coronation Street.
